Guy Reschenthaler, Jim Jordan and Tom Emmer all endorsed the former Senate General Counsel.
Republican congressional candidate Austin Rogers announced several significant endorsements as he runs to succeed retiring U.S. Rep. Neal Dunn.
The Panhandle native is getting support from a member of House leadership and prominent national figures as an Aug. 18 GOP Primary nears.
U.S. Rep. Guy Reschenthaler, a Pennsylvania Republican serving as House Chief Deputy Whip, announced his endorsement Tuesday.
“I’m proud to endorse Austin Rogers for Congress because he’s exactly the kind of proven conservative we need to grow and protect our House Republican majority,” Reschenthaler said.
“As a committed fighter for President Trump’s America First Agenda, Austin will go to Washington ready to keep our border secure, rein in spending, and stand up for hardworking Florida families. I’m proud to endorse him for Congress and look forward to serving with him in the Republican conference.
“I am grateful for Rep. Guy Reschenthaler’s endorsement. At a time when conservative leadership and principles are under attack, I’m happy to stand alongside him in the fight,” Rogers said. “Guy’s service as a veteran and experienced attorney are notable, and it is a great honor to earn his support. Thank you, Congressman Reschenthaler.”
That came hours after U.S. Rep. Jim Jordan, an Ohio Republican who chairs the House Judiciary Committee, announced his own support. Jordan made note of Rogers’ history as a General Counsel for several prominent lawmakers on the Hill, including U.S. Sen. Rick Scott, Florida senior Senator.
“Austin Rogers is a strong conservative with the skills, experience, and backbone needed to make a real difference in Washington,” Jordan said.
“At a time when America First principles are under constant attack from the left, Austin will hold the line, defend our values, and fight for the people of Florida’s Second Congressional District. His service as General Counsel to Senators Lindsey Graham and Rick Scott gives him the policy experience and judgment needed to hit the ground running. Now, more than ever, we need leaders like Austin Rogers in Congress.”
Rogers noted that he worked with Jordan’s Office when he was Chief Counsel to the Senate Judiciary Committee, the upper chamber counterpart to Jordan’s committee.
On Monday, U.S. Rep. Tom Emmer, a Minnesota Republican and House Majority Whip, also threw his support behind Rogers.
“Austin Rogers is the America First conservative we need in Congress. His experience serving as Chief Counsel to Senators Lindsey Graham and Rick Scott has prepared him to hit the ground running and advance President Trump’s agenda from day one,” Emmer said.
“Austin is a devoted husband, father, and man of faith who understands that public service is about fighting for the hardworking families, individuals, and small businesses that make North Florida and the Panhandle great. He will stand up to China and has the conservative values and leadership our Republican majority needs to keep America on the right track. I’m proud to give Austin Rogers my complete and total support for Florida’s 2nd Congressional District.”
Rogers embraced that support as well.
“Tom Emmer is a proven conservative leader who knows what it takes to pass critical legislation and keep our House majority focused on delivering results,” he said.
